HEN Hull Launch Over 120 people attended the three launch events for the Humber Environmental Network (HEN) recently in Grimsby, Hull and Bridlington

A very positive response to the initiative was received by all and attendees were keen to sign up for future events.

At the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Museum, Dave Penson from Youngs Seafood made his public speaking “debut” and explained how his company have made improvements through water and energy efficiency. He also made  aplea for delegates to sign up for the Rainforest Alliance.

In Bridlington, Guy Newsom of Munton’s Malt explained the programmes which have resulted in his company being recently ranked number 41 in the Sunday Times list of top environmental companies in the UK. The recent investment of £4million in the Sewerby facility also demonstrated how environmental improvements also make sound business sense.

In Hull, to round off a stimulating week, Mike Smith of URS Corporation challenged the audience to grasp the business opportunities presented by Climate Change and look for opportunities in the new Low Carbon economy.
