At the presentation, which took place at Hull University Business School, Cath Cooper, Operations Director of CJ Express said: ‘As a business we are very committed to being environmentally responsible, something which is not common within the haulage industry.
‘Initially we signed up to the Pall-Ex Eco Drive initiative which enables businesses to cut down on their landfill by offering a disposal service but have continued to add to our green credentials over the years by cutting down on paper, using bio-fuel and even using rainwater to wash our vehicles.’

CJ Express has worked closely with Hull University Business School and the Humber Environmental Network (HEN), which is run through ETCIC to achieve its green goals.
‘Through our association with the university we had our eyes opened to a sustainable business model. We met agencies that gave us advice on how to change our processes for the long term, and we intend to continue to improve our green credentials over the coming years.’
Presenting the award, Hilary Devey said: ‘We are proud to see CJ Express being rewarded for its efforts to reduce its environmental impact and we have been happy to support them along the way – they are a fantastic ambassador for our members and a model for good practice.
After the presentation, Ms Devey gave a talk to business school students and HEN members on her entrepreneurial career and the very successful Pall-Ex business model.
