Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grants (BREIG) are available to all businesses within the Yorkshire & Humber area. Must be accessed before March 31st.

Use a BREIG grant of up to £8,000 to cut your waste, energy and water costs and start improving your bottom line profits NOW (funding limited, offer available to 31 March 2008 or until funds run out)

Available to all registered businesses in the Yorkshire & Humber area across all businesss ectors; ie retail, manufacturing, service £8,000* Capital Grant (available at up to 20% grant rate):

Available towards purchases of equipment or machinery that will reduce your company's waste output, energy and fuel consumption and/or water usage. Examples of purchases that could qualify for the capital grant include:

More efficient, lower energy production equipment Modern high efficiency electric motors and drives Improved higher efficiency lighting, heating and energy recovery

Lower energy refrigeration systems and improved insulation  

Water saving and recovery equipment  

Recycling and recovery of waste by-products  

Upgraded monitoring equipment and controls

 

£2,500* Consultancy Grant (available at up to 50% grant rate):

Available to support the costs of a third party environmental specialist helping you to identify and implement changes within your business that would effectively reduce your company's waste output, energy and fuel consumption and/or water usage. Examples of projects that could qualify for the consultancy grant include:

Energy assessments and monitoring  

Waste identification and reduction Water consumption review and improvements  

Developing recycling opportunities  

Support to introduce environmental management systems

 

£1,000* Training Grant (available at a 100% grant rate):

Available to support the costs of your employee(s) participating on a training course where the focus of learning is on efficiency/environmental matters which may then lead to resource efficiency improvements being made within your business. Examples of types of training courses that could qualify for the training grant include:

CIWM waste awareness courses

Training in environmental management systems

In house training delivered by an external training provider or consultant Environmental conferences and events which will lead to learning outcomes

 

About the Funding

The grants are provided through the Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grants Programme (BREIG) which is funded by Yorkshire Forward through the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) programme. The purpose of BREIG is to help businesses offset the costs of capital investment, consultancy or training which results in improvements to their resource efficiency and environmental practices.
